Summary"To Kill a Mockingbird" starts in a small town called Maycomb. This is about a small family named the Finches. Scout is one of the main characters and the narrator and Jem is her brother. Atticus is their father and is defending a black man named Tom Robinson. This case is about Tom being accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Its is a black persons word against a whites and the case is not looking good for them. Atticus is getting harassed by people because they don't believe that he should be defending a black person. They call him a "nigger-lover" but Atticus stays calm. At the same time the kids are living a sort of normal life.They go to school but in the summer a boy named Dill, who lives with his Aunt Rachel, gets to know Jem and Scout. They become good friends and start getting fascinated with the spooky house down their road. The house is the Radely house in which Boo lives. He never comes out during the day so the kid make several attempts to get him to come out of his house so they could see him but they never succeeded These two story lines start in two different places but at the end of the book they come together in a thrilling ending.

Why Should You Read TKAM?You should read "To Kill a Mocking Bird" because it is an American classic. It teaches us so many life lessons. It teaches us about the the separations of blacks and whites and teaches us about what it was like to live in the depression. It also portrays racism throughout the book. It shows how fast people judge eachother without even knowing the whole story. Over all this is an amazing book! It is a book that has so many emotions in it. It starts off happy and the next minute it is sad then the next it is scarry. This book is exciting and gets you on the edge of your seat just wanting to keep reading it.
